Washington DC Boat Slips & Dockage

About Our Dockage

Washington DC boat slips for serious boaters

Eastern Power Boat Club offers private wet slip dockage on the Anacostia River — one of the very few opportunities in the District to moor your vessel in the water and call this remarkable city home port.

Founded in 1905, EPBC is one of Washington DC’s oldest boating organizations, located at 1301 Water Street SE — conveniently close to Capitol Hill and part of the historic Boat House Row community. We are a proud member of the Potomac River Yacht Club Association.

Dockage is available to Regular Members who moor a vessel in a wet slip. Membership is by application and member vote — this isn’t a commercial marina, it’s a private club with more than a century of tradition and a genuine community of powerboat enthusiasts.

Why EPBC

A tranquil oasis in the heart of the nation’s capital

Finding dockage in Washington, DC is notoriously difficult. Commercial marinas are scarce, slip waitlists are long, and the Potomac and Anacostia waterfronts are heavily developed. EPBC offers something increasingly rare: a stable, well-managed home for your boat on the water — with a clubhouse, active membership community, and access to the full river system.

From EPBC’s docks you have direct access to the Anacostia River, the Potomac River, the Chesapeake Bay, and beyond. The club is surrounded by federal parkland and the unique calm of Boat House Row — a tranquil oasis that’s still just minutes from the U.S. Capitol.

What We Look For

Membership requirements

EPBC is a private club with an intentionally close-knit community. Becoming a member requires an application, two sponsor members, and a two-thirds majority vote of the membership. Regular Membership additionally requires two readings at monthly meetings.

We’re a laid-back group — but we take our responsibilities to the river, to DC Harbor Patrol, and to one another seriously. A few things that matter to us:

  • Willingness to follow club bylaws, DC and federal law
  • Dues paid on time (within 30 days of invoice)
  • Boat maintained in a safe, USCG-compliant, and tidy condition
  • Vessel kept operational (in running condition) at all times
  • $300,000 in vessel liability insurance
  • Current DC boat registration
  • No live-aboards — prohibited by club rules and DC law
  • No commercial activity of any kind, including charters

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions about DC boat slips

Is EPBC a public marina or a private club?

Eastern Power Boat Club is a private, membership-based organization. Dockage is available to members only — it is not a public marina or commercial slip rental facility. This is a key distinction that makes our community tight-knit and our docks well-maintained.

What types of boats can use the wet slips?

EPBC is a powerboat club — our slips are suited for motorized vessels. Boats must be DC-registered, USCG-compliant, maintained in operational condition, and carry at least $300,000 in liability insurance. Contact us about specific size accommodations.

Can I live aboard my boat at EPBC?

No. Live-aboards are strictly prohibited by both club rules and the District of Columbia. This rule is firmly enforced.

I don’t have a boat yet — can I still join?

Yes! Social Membership is open to anyone who enjoys the boating lifestyle and wants to be part of the club community — no boat required. Associate Membership covers trailered boat storage for those who don’t need a wet slip.

Where exactly is EPBC located?

We’re at 1301 Water Street SE, Washington, DC 20003 — on the Anacostia River within the Boat House Row community, a short distance from Capitol Hill. The location offers excellent river access and is surrounded by National Park Service land.

Are there boat slips available right now?

Slip availability changes. The best way to find out is to reach out directly — contact us at 202-601-8686 or hello@easternpowerboatclub.com and we’ll let you know current availability and walk you through the application process.

Can I charter or run commercial trips from EPBC?

Absolutely not. No commercial activity of any kind is permitted at the club — this includes charters, which are also strictly prohibited by the USCG and DC Harbor Police. Membership is for personal recreational boating only.
